Description

Are you tired of global users experiencing high latency or worrying about regional outages taking your entire application offline? In this episode of Microsoft Knowledge Nuggets, we dive deep into Azure Traffic Manager to show you how to route users to the fastest, healthiest servers automatically. Learn how to transform your global infrastructure from a single point of failure into a resilient, high-performance machine.

In this video, host Mirko Peters breaks down why global traffic routing is essential for modern web applications. We explore how Azure Traffic Manager operates at the DNS level, meaning it never proxies your traffic or adds unnecessary latency to the user experience. You will discover the six core routing methods: priority, performance, weighted, geographic, multi-value, and subnet routing. We also discuss practical implementation tips, such as setting the right DNS TTL and creating dedicated health check endpoints to ensure your failover processes are seamless and reliable.

Whether you are preparing for a disaster recovery scenario or trying to meet strict data sovereignty requirements like GDPR, this guide provides the clarity you need to choose the right strategy for your organization. We also give a special preview of the M365Con event happening in January 2027, where industry experts will be tackling real-world challenges in AI, security, and automation. This session covers everything from the physics of internet latency to the specifics of using nested profiles for complex global routing needs.
