Edit with Copilot lets you build and edit workbooks side by side with Copilot. When you're updating budgets, creating financial models, or analyzing data, Copilot uses Excel's most powerful tools like tables, charts, PivotTables, and formulas to help you get the job done.

A Copilot-generated canvas that turns workbook data into a polished, interactive view of key visualizations, metrics, and insights. As workbook data changes, it automatically updates to reflect the latest information. Users can modify the canvas by chatting with Copilot.

Plan Mode for Copilot in Excel helps users make complex changes with confidence by outlining a clear, step by step approach before anything in the workbook is updated. Users can review how Copilot intends to complete the task, see which data or capabilities may be used, and adjust the plan as needed—ensuring edits are intentional, transparent, and aligned with their goals before they’re applied. This makes it easier to tackle multi step or high impact tasks while staying in control of every change.

In Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, the ‘Prevent some connected experiences that analyze content’ label setting now prevents files in these apps from being sent to all Microsoft connected experiences for analysis, rather than a subset of these connected experiences.

Available to Microsoft 365 users with or without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

We are updating the entry point user interface for Copilot Chat. The Copilot Chat entry point button will move out of the app ribbon to the app canvas to help with discoverability and use within the context of the file. This update will apply to Microsoft 365 users of Word, Excel and PowerPoint who are eligible for Copilot Chat across web, mobile and desktop.

The Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention policy to restrict Microsoft 365 Copilot processing sensitive files in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will now apply regardless of file storage location.
