You’ll soon be able to bring your Microsoft Planner into Microsoft Cowork. In Cowork, you can view, create, and update your plans, buckets, goals, and tasks without switching apps. Cowork goes a step further by helping you execute your Planner tasks across Microsoft 365, such as drafting and sending emails, scheduling meetings, posting updates to Teams, and working with files. It can then write progress back to Planner with your approval. You can move from planning your work to getting it done in one place.

Planner Agent brings Planner’s intelligent work management directly into Copilot Chat, enabling users to create, update, and manage personal tasks and shared basic plans without switching context. Integrated across Microsoft 365, it provides insights into priorities, deadlines, and at-risk work, along with interactive task cards to help users stay organized and keep work moving.

Teams meetings automatically create a corresponding Planner plan to capture meeting tasks. However, when teams use meetings as their primary collaboration surface for long-running initiatives, tasks from the same project can become scattered across multiple auto-generated plans. With this capability, users can now connect Teams meetings to existing Planner plans, so all related tasks across meetings can be tracked in one place.

Planner plans created from Teams meetings (via Meeting Notes or Loop) often remain unused long after the meeting ends. These inactive plans accumulate and clutter over time. This feature automatically expires and deletes meeting-created plans that have had no task activity for 180 days. Only the Planner plan is removed whereas the tasks in Loop and meeting notes stay intact.
